Awards Finalist Christchurch Fresh Distribution Centre Achieves Sustainability Milestone
March 2025

The Christchurch Fresh Distribution Centre (CFDC) in Rolleston, Christchurch, is a state-of-the-art, temperature-controlled facility developed in collaboration with General Distributors (Woolworths NZ) by Hoskyns Road Limited Partnership (a partnership established and managed by Mackersy Property on behalf of its investors).
Completed in February 2024, the CFDC spans 11,170m² on a 28,365m² site and exemplifies advanced cool chain integrity and innovation. This key infrastructure asset is integral to Woolworths New Zealand’s (Woolworths) supply chain aspirations to serve the entire South Island, with its temperature-controlled technology enabling the highest quality product all the way from “farm to fork”.
In alignment with Woolworths' sustainability goals, best practice sustainable products and processes have been utilised throughout the build. The building itself deviates from the usual ‘industrial shed’ and has recently been awarded a 4 Green Star Design & As Built NZv1.0 Certified Built Review Rating by the New Zealand Green Building Council.
The Property Industry Awards, hosted by Property Council New Zealand, have recognised the CFDC’s excellence in design and sustainability. Celebrating 34 years of outstanding property development, the Awards showcase superior examples of iconic projects in property development and investment across a broad range of sectors and design disciplines. The CFDC is a finalist in both the CBRE Industrial Property Award and the Resene Sustainable Building Property Award.
Hamish Wilton, CEO of Mackersy Property noted:
“The CFDC has been an innovative and rewarding project. Collaborating with Woolworths and other industry professionals to achieve a purpose-built building incorporating features to reduce its environmental impact and achieve a Green Star rating has resulted in a premier building that all parties can be immensely proud of.
We took this project on at an early stage, working through the consenting and procurement process alongside Woolworths and the main contractor to achieve best practice outcomes and environmental standards whilst always closely monitoring and having regard to strict cost control. The CFDC is another excellent example showcasing the benefits of our fund-through development model that ultimately provides our investors with a great long-term investment with stability and growth.”
The Property Industry Award winners will be announced in June 2025.
